Privacy Policy: That's So Us
Last updated: 1 August 2026
That's So Us is made by Steradian Labs. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, where it goes, and how to delete it.
The short version: there are no accounts, we never learn your name unless you type one, we do not track you, we do not show ads, and we do not sell anything about you to anyone.
There is no account
That's So Us has no sign-up, no email, no password and no social login. When you first open the app it generates a random identifier and stores it in your device's Keychain. That identifier is how our servers recognise your device. It is not linked to your name, your email, your phone number, your contacts or your Apple ID.
If you buy the unlock, that identifier is what carries your purchase across your own devices.
Connecting with your partner
The app is built for two people. One of you creates a join code, the other enters it, and from then on the two devices are paired.
Once paired, we store a small shared record containing:
- the first names or nicknames you each chose during onboarding
- your streak, meaning how many days you have played
- the pairing itself, so each device knows who the other is
That is all the shared record holds. It does not contain a history of the games you have played.
What we collect
Things you type or record during a game. Your answers, clues, stories, guesses and voice recordings. These are sent to our servers so your partner's device can receive them, because that is how the game works.
Photos you choose for the Photographic Memory game. When you play that game, you pick specific photos from your library and assign them to prompts. Only the photos you deliberately select are used. The app never scans, reads or uploads your camera roll.
Answers from onboarding. The short questions at the start, and the name you choose to be known by. Use a nickname if you prefer.
Your purchase status. Whether the unlock has been bought.
Basic app events. Which games get opened and completed, so we can tell which games people enjoy. These are counts, not content.
A notification token, if you allow notifications.
Where your content goes
Your partner
Everything you submit during a round goes to your partner's device. That is the entire point of the app. Assume that anything you type, say or select will be seen by the person you are playing with.
Google, for scoring
Some games are scored by an automated system rather than by us reading anything.
- In Say Less, your written or spoken answer and your partner's guess are sent to Google for analysis, which returns a similarity score and a short explanation of what matched.
- In Sweet Little Lies, your true answer is sent to Google to generate believable false answers around it.
- In Dead Ringer, both voice recordings are sent to Google for analysis, which returns a score for how closely the impression matched.
This content is sent for the purpose of scoring that round and returning a result. It is not used to build a profile of you, and no identifying information is attached to it.
Photos are never sent to Google
The photos you pick for the Photographic Memory game are relayed to your partner through our servers only. They are never sent to Google or to any other automated analysis service. They are used for one thing: showing your partner the photo you chose, so they can guess which prompt it belongs to.
Apple
Your purchase is processed entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, your billing address or your Apple ID.
How long it is kept
Game content is short-lived by design.
While a round is in progress, your answers, recordings and chosen photos are held on our servers so your partner's device can fetch them. That is the only reason they are stored. Once the round is finished and you have both seen the result, they are deleted.
The app keeps no browsable history of past games. You cannot scroll back through old rounds, because they are not there.
What persists is only the small amount described above: your identifier, your chosen name, your onboarding answers, your streak and your purchase status.
Deleting your data
You → Delete my data removes your user record and the shared record you have with your partner. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
Two things follow from it. You are returned to onboarding as a completely new user with a new identifier. Your partner keeps their own account but will see their pairing marked as disconnected, and can pair again with a new join code without redoing onboarding.
Deleting the app from your phone does not by itself delete what is on our servers. Use the button first if that is what you want.
Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID rather than to us, so restoring it after deletion is done through Apple.
Tracking and advertising
We do not track you. There is no advertising in the app, no advertising identifier, no third-party analytics SDK, no tracking pixels and no data sold or shared with data brokers. The app's privacy manifest declares no tracking domains.
Permissions the app asks for
Microphone. Requested the first time you record a voice answer or an impression. Recording only happens while you are actively holding or starting a recording in a game.
Photo library. Requested the first time you play the Photographic Memory game. You choose specific photos through the standard iOS picker. The app has no access to the rest of your library.
Notifications. Optional. Used for occasional reminders suggesting a game night, at most around once a fortnight. Nothing else.
You can withdraw any of these in iOS Settings at any time. The relevant game will simply stop working until you grant it again.
Children
That's So Us is intended for adults in relationships and is rated 12+. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top and post the new version at https://apps.steradianlabs.com/thatssous/privacy.
