Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Nikhil Chandra ("we," "us," or "I"), the developer of the app Ignition AI: Startup Ideas ("Ignition" or the "app"), handles your information.
If you have any questions, contact us any time at nikhil.chandra@steradianlabs.com.
The short version
Ignition is built to be privacy-minimal. There is no account to create, no email or password, and no name to give us. We do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell or rent your information. We collect only what we need to send you one sharp startup idea a day and to keep the app working.
Information we collect
An anonymous identifier. When you first open Ignition, the app creates a random identifier (a UUID) on your device and stores it securely in the iOS Keychain. We use this identifier to associate your preferences and ideas with your install. It is not linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity, and it stays on your device (it is not synced to iCloud).
Preferences you provide. During setup and in settings, you choose the topics and build constraints you care about, you can write a short freeform paragraph describing your interests, and you set how often you want ideas and your time zone and delivery window. We store these so we can tailor the ideas you receive.
Your ideas. The startup ideas generated for you are saved so you can revisit your history in the app.
Notification token. If you turn on push notifications, Apple gives the app a device token that lets us deliver notifications. We store that token (and whether it is for Apple's sandbox or production environment) so we can send the ideas and reminders you opted into.
Subscription information. If you subscribe, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple gives us subscription details such as the transaction identifiers, the product you bought, the status, and the renewal or expiration date so we can unlock paid features and keep your subscription in sync across your devices. We never see or store your credit card or payment details. Apple handles all billing.
Usage analytics. To understand how the app is used and improve it, we record product-interaction events, for example opening the app, viewing or tapping an idea, seeing the subscription screen, and the outcome of a purchase. These events include the anonymous identifier above, an app session identifier, the app version, and timestamps. This analytics system is entirely our own. We do not use Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, or any other third-party analytics or advertising SDK.
Diagnostic logs. When something goes wrong on our server, we log the request path and a short error message so we can fix it. These logs do not include your IP address, your device or browser user-agent, request contents, or cookies.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or password (there is no login). We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone data. We do not use the device advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not collect biometric data. The app does no cross-app or cross-site tracking, and our App Privacy settings declare tracking as off.
How we use your information
- Generate and deliver one tailored startup idea on the schedule you choose.
- Send the push notifications and reminders you opt into.
- Unlock paid features, enforce the free limit, and keep your subscription in sync.
- Measure how features are used so we can improve the app.
- Detect and fix errors and keep the service reliable.
How ideas are generated (AI)
Ignition uses OpenAI to generate ideas. To do this, our server sends OpenAI the inputs that shape your idea: your selected topics and build constraints, your freeform interest paragraph, and short summaries of your recent ideas (so new ones stay fresh). OpenAI also performs web searches to ground each idea in recent, real-world signals.
We deliberately keep this limited. We do not send OpenAI your identifier, your notification token, any Apple or subscription information, or any real-world identity. OpenAI processes these inputs as our service provider to return the generated idea.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share data only with the service providers that make Ignition work, and only as needed to run it:
- Supabase hosts our database, where your preferences, ideas, and the data above are stored.
- Railway hosts our server software.
- OpenAI generates ideas from the limited inputs described above.
- Apple processes App Store payments and delivers push notifications through the Apple Push Notification service.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the service.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as you use Ignition. If you would like your data deleted, email us at nikhil.chandra@steradianlabs.com and we will delete your records from our systems. Deleting the app from your device stops any further collection, and because your identifier lives only on that device, removing the app also removes the link to your stored data.
Your rights and choices
You are in control of your information:
- Access and correct: your preferences and interest paragraph can be viewed and edited any time in the app's settings.
- Delete: request deletion of your data by emailing nikhil.chandra@steradianlabs.com.
- Notifications: turn push notifications on or off in your device's iOS Settings.
- Subscription: manage, change, or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID in the App Store.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise your rights, email us at the address above.
EU, EEA, and UK residents (GDPR/UK GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of our agreement with you (to provide the app and your subscription), your consent (for push notifications), and our legitimate interests (to keep the app secure and to improve it). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address above.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Your on-device identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain, all traffic between the app and our server is encrypted in transit using TLS, and our data is held with established hosting providers (Supabase and Railway). No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, so while we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Ignition is intended for an adult, founder-focused audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
We are based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you use Ignition from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will provide a notice in the app. Your continued use of Ignition after an update means you accept the revised policy.
